This is such a perfect goal to have when working on your negative attitude. What could be a better way then finding fault in everything. Think about those bad drivers, the rough roads, the economy, your family, the food for lunch, politics, rude people, and every thing else that you ever see,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], touch, or even hear about. YOU CAN FIND SOMETHING WRONG WITH EVERYTHING! So do it. Why be happy when you can be finding fault in everything you see. It is especially helpful to try and have a worse day than all of your friends. Then at the end of the day you can say “that’s nothing, look what happened to me today…..,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],” or “If it makes you feel better my day was so much worse than yours because of …….”This game can be continued on for hours until someone finally wins at the worst day possible, and by then we are all totally depressed. Great game!

This is a really good one. Talk to yourself and call yourself names. Let yourself know how stupid you are. Don’t forget to talk bad about yourself verbally as well as non verbally. Really voice the negative judgments that you make of yourself. If you need some suggestions you could say things like “I’m such a stupid idiot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].” “I hate myself.” or even something like “I’m a lazy useless slob.” I usually tell women to make sure they tell themselves how fat and ugly they are so that they can really get unhappy quickly.

5) Tell yourself how stupid you are when you mess up
Judging other people is such a fast track to unhappiness. When you really want to be upset then just go find someone to judge. Even better is to judge them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then tell everyone about how awful they are. When we judge other people it pulls us down to where they are in their lives. It also gives you this awesome negative feeling in your gut. Your first step toward the ultimate sadness is to start judging, and judge as harshly as possible so you can decline like a rocket crashing right into the ground.
So… people ask me all the time what they can do to be unhappy, more miserable, or depressed. There are so many people in this world that need the answers to these important questions. I decided that I would dedicate my time and vast knowledge of this topic so that you too can create, extremely fast, deep unhappiness in your life. It is important that you read over these principals as they can, will, and do have a huge affect on the outcome of your life. In fact these 8 principals probably have a bigger outcome on your life than ANYTHING ELSE EVER WILL. This is life changing! Are you ready to find out how to always be upset? Well read on below and lets get unhappy together!
Always believe that nothing will work out. You will get in a car wreck today. You will fail your test. You will get fired. Everyone will hate you. Everyone is watching you hoping you screw up. Everyone wants you to fail. Never forget to assume the worst possible outcome. You will probably die when you leave the house today, and if you don’t die you will probably go bankrupt or loose a family member! Assuming the worst and telling everyone about it will assist you in your unhappiness quest.
I love to complain. If I ever feel happy I know I have not been complaining enough. When we complain it gets our blood boiling. We focus strongly on the negative things around us. It helps if you complain about the people that you are being judgmental about. Then you can kill 2 happiness birds with one stone. Complaining is awesome Gripe and complain all day long for an extra unhappy week. Do this especially when you meet one of those annoying people that is always happy. If you do this you can bring them down with you, then you both can complain about everything together, its awesome!
Hold grudges. Hate. Despise. Never forgive. Forgiveness is your enemy. If there is anything that will bring more happiness into your life its forgiveness. When you forgive someone you instantly feel free and happy. This is the last thing an unhappiness seeker is looking for. We want to hate them forever. So never forgive. Bottle that up, oh and tell everyone about what they did to screw you over. The more people you tell about what someone did to you, the more unhappy you can be. they will also tell you about the people that screw them over. Then you both can be miserable! This will really accelerate your decline into the pit of unhappy despair.

Yeah, other unhappy people are a great way to bring yourself town into depression. It is so good for you to spend time around people that have any of these 8 qualities. If they are always negative then you should copy every word they say. I recommend that you get 5 hours of personal time with someone that is unhappy. This can really drain that sick happiness right out of your body. The faster you can get rid of happiness the better off you will be, so make sure you really latch onto people that hate life!

Why should they be spared if they are not perfect. Criticize them as well. They will hate you for it, and that will make you even more unhappy.

1. Going with the flow- Sometimes in disagreements we become sidetracked from the original disagreement into other things that bother us. When that happens multiple issues get voiced,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], frustration increases, and little, if anything, gets resolved. We need to remain focused on the disagreement at hand,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if we need to write down other topics for future discussions.
5. We're different people- While we can sometimes use our reactions to predict how they might react in a different situation it can often be incorrect (see #2 above),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It is best to ask.
As human beings we have a tendency to stay stuck in patterns- We are creatures of routines. A pattern doesn't have to be enjoyable for us to repeat it, just familiar. It is what we naturally do without intervention. Some of our patterns are positive (our waking up routine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], putting on a seat belt). Some are problematic. They are frequently “below our radar”; we don't recognize when they occur, we just notice afterwards that they don't work.
3. Getting stuck in history/Ignoring history- The value of looking back is in examining what happened and using that information to make a decision and/or make changes. Sometimes we get stuck in the past. We argue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], someone brings up something from the past and, again, we “go with the flow” arguing about what happened or bringing up other past issues, not resolving anything. If we wish to move on, let's recognize that we were hurt, discuss solutions and hold each other accountable to change. Stay focused on what needs to occur today and now.
Conflict is normal in relationships. When it is excessive, violent, or often does not lead to resolving an issue, then there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Below are some of the mistakes couples make that keep them “stuck”.
In relationships each of us comes with models from our families of how relationships should be. It is not a conscious choice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nor is it blaming our parents (they had parents too). It is noticing how each of us might do some of the things either or both of our parents did,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], both positive and negative. Over time we create our own model- often a mixture from both families. Sometimes problems begin to occur.

If it were me- Each of us is different; different biological families, different histories, different genders, different cultures, different thoughts, different values, different priorities-we are not the same. 6. Responding without listening- Sometimes in our haste to respond we don't listen to what other's say. Many times I have to point out to couples that they are actually saying the same thing a different way! We need to take turns and listen to each other.

Couples therapy is not arguing with a therapist there as a referee. It is about noticing patterns, eliminating problem behaviors, finding mutually acceptable solutions and initiating them. We can only see so much in ourselves and our partner. Someone outside the relationship is unbiased and has a clearer view; it is a human condition.

Does this sound crazy?
This is exactly what the Hollywood movie industry has been doing. It has effectively been imaging terrible disasters on America for decades, and we have all been willing participants in it; paying our dollars out to enjoy watching our cities being devastated, thousands being killed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], our national monuments destroyed, and so on.
Doubtless, this not the end of the list. Nevertheless, it makes the point most clearly. What have we been feeding our minds with all these years?! It is not just the minds of Americans we are talking about. The minds of hundreds of millions of people all over the world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], through the power of film distribution, have contributed powerfully to projecting negative thought power into the non-material realms from which all Effects eventually emerge. Does this mean that Mr. bin Laden, if he indeed masterminded this attack, is not really guilty of it? No. However, perhaps his role is somewhat analogous to Judas' in the passion story of Christ. One of the things that struck me forcibly about the events of September 11th 2001 was the terrible resemblance the attacks bore to a Hollywood blockbuster disaster movie. It was quite uncanny......

Desperate terrorists seize passenger airline planes and plunge them into the WTC towers. The Pentagon is hit. The President of the United States takes to the skies in Airforce One,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], under the protection of scrambled F-15 fighters. The White House is threatened. Brave passengers face dangerous terrorists and give their lives to save the nation's honor. The WTC towers collapse so dramatically that Hollywood's Special Effects could not have staged it any better. Thousands are killed. Acts of heroism abound. CNN broadcasts: "America Under Attack". And so on.
Do you want to know why it resembled a Hollywood movie so closely? The reason is because it IS a Hollywood movie!
Think about it. In "The Siege",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we had the siege of New York by terrorists. "Independence Day" gave us the total destruction of the major cities of America and the world by aliens. "The Towering Inferno" had thousands of people trapped in a burning skyscraper. In "Deep Impact", an asteroid destroyed many of America's cities, including New York. "Die Hard 2" gave us a maniac international terrorist blowing up parts of New York with bombs. "Airforce One" had the terrorist disaster scenario taken to the President's plane. With "The Rock", terrorists seize Alcatraz island, and threaten to shell the city with thermonuclear devices. Finally, "Godzilla" had New York totally devastated by a giant dinosaur!
Thought has power. The whole of human civilization is testimony to this. Consequently,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], perhaps we now have to come to terms with a brutal fact of life. Negative thoughts and images of our nation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and of the entire world, CAN produce direct results on the physical plane that we might never have conceived possible.
It really isn't if we truly believe in the power of thought. Thoughts are things. Thoughts are VERY powerful. They are the life-blood of our civilization. They work in the non-material world of Cause, and produce effects in our material world. The everyday world we see - the world of Effects - is the result of thought. Thought is Prime Cause for all we see around us.
It is the pure materialist who claims that none of this is true; that there is no scientifically proven link. The esoteric person knows that there IS a non-material dimension that actually far exceeds the physical in scope. Such a person also knows the power of Thought, when channelled and focused in the manner described here. Perhaps it is time to ask some searching questions of the type of music, movie, and other forms of entertainment that we allow ourselves. We need to become fully aware of what the channelled focus of hundreds of millions of people over a period of many years is capable of.

While the negative consequences above are certainly nothing we want to deal with,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the small day-to-day emotional eating that occurs is not usually identified as an eating disorder. But if you find yourself eating more and more to avoid the emotional feelings of any of the examples listed above, this can lead to a very serious condition called binge eating. Binge eating is a type of disorder where someone will begin eating whether they are hungry or not and not stop until massive quantities of food have been taken in. Once they have eaten thousands of calories, the person then will usually purge them self to try to get rid of all the food. Together,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], binging and purging such as this can lead to a condition called bulimia which is one of the most prevalent eating disorders in our society.
So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], having a piece of cake after a long hard day to help forget about your stress is not necessarily a bad thing. But choosing to eat simply to avoid dealing with the emotions can lead to extremely harmful conditions over time and become a serious eating disorder that may affect your health and even lead to your premature death. Make sure to take note of your eating habits so that you don't fall into the trap of having emotional eating take over your life.
It may not be needed to go into all the reasons why weight gain can cause us negative consequences, but it is important to note that many of us take for granted the extra calories we put into our body during times of stress, fear,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], anger, resentment or other emotions that leave us feeling incomplete and craving food to help make us whole again. This additional weight gain over time can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], certain forms of cancer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], heart disease, heart attack, stroke,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and more.
The difference between emotional eating and a normal diet is that emotional eaters don't necessarily pay attention to their bodies signals that tell them when they are full. I would suggest that the fourth stage is actually sadness, not depression. when sadness is expressed and not discounted, it often leads, in time, to acceptance. Depression itself is really not a natural emotion. It is a distortion of sadness and sorrow, or anger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which comes from loss. The difference between sadness and depression is that sadness runs its course whereas depression can go on for years and years. Our loss can be anything: a person, a shattered dream, a material thing....And we may yearn extensively for that person or dream to return. Our life contains many losses and we are often conditioned to treat our losses in a stoic manner depriving ourselves of the natural response of grief. Our culture frowns upon crying which is way of releasing our pain. Our culture is also rather inept at understanding the energy of anger and how best to express it - to release it. Consequently,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when we arrive at the second stage of loss,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is anger,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is often repressed giving rise to the festering which brings about depression. Anger at loss can quickly give way to sadness if we understand and allow the naturalness of sadness and sorrow rather than hiding it away.
There is a saying that depression is anger turned in on itself. That means the anger that you may be holding within your mind has nowhere to go and rather than being expressed outwardly, it is festering inside. Like undigested food that turns putrid, the anger becomes depression. You feel lethargic and dull, uninterested in anything. You may find yourself without energy and not wanting to get out of bed. You may find yourself crying, moody and irritable. Your sex drive may diminish to nothing. You may even feel suicidal. In an attempt to remedy the situation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you seek medical advice and may be prescribed any number of antidepressants. These medications may prove useful as they alter the chemistry of your brain which has been thrown off kilter by the repressed anger. But, the medications are only helping alleviate the symptoms; they do not remove the cause.
As William Shakespeare states through the voice of Duke Vicentio in his play Measure for Measure "...Yet in this life lie hid more thousand deaths..." suggesting the myriad of losses, or "little deaths" we experience in a lifetime. Even the natural process of maturation requires us to lose our childhood for adolescence and adolescence for adulthood. We must often lose our innocence for experience and our heart for love. Who has not experienced a broken heart? And who has not been angry over such loss when in fact sorrow is the real emotion so often disallowed by our culture. But a broken heart is an open heart,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a heart that can cry - and feel.
There is another saying that underneath anger is sorrow. That means that our anger is really an expression of loss. Our anger is an expression of unresolved grief. This makes sense because the second stage of loss and grief is anger. The five stages of loss and grief,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as outlined by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. These stages are not necessarily linear. They may arise in various shifting sequences. Also, current research suggests that there is a sixth stage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the phase of "yearning." Yearning is a powerful feeling and may permeate the other stages as an underlying reality experienced as a hole in our heart - something missing which we desperately want.
Although depression is accepted as a bona fide ailment with an official diagnosis, anger, sadness and sorrow, even yearning,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], have no such diagnostic status. There are no prescriptive medications to alleviate those natural states. They must simply be lived through as part of the human experience.
If you are feeling depressed, examine your life for the many losses you have suffered. If you are angry, examine your life for the many losses you have suffered. As you begin to touch upon these losses, let yourself feel the sadness and sorrow; cry tears. Release the pain. Let yourself yearn for that which you miss, whether it is a lost love, a recently deceased pet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the passing of a friend or, at the deepest level of our consciousness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the separation of our individual self from the Eden that certainly exists within the secret caverns of our dreams. Although you may be deeply saddened and you may yearn in agony, you will likely feel much less depressed and more alive as a human being. And, as these somewhat unpleasant and often misunderstood emotions pass, you may even find yourself becoming somewhat happier.
In the Judo-Christian system, our great loss is expulsion from paradise, from Eden. And from that loss has come our existence in this "veil of tears." Sorrow can be found around every corner. And yet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what we find instead of sorrow is hatred and violence. There is a natural sadness that comes from living in this world. But that can be distorted into an unnatural depression as opposed to a philosophical compassion.

One woman, had been experiencing chronic anxiety and panic attacks that led to a phobia of flying, which was a big problem for her, since she had to fly to Sydney on business. She came for a session of Mindfulness Meditation Therapy to work on her anxiety. I had her close her eyes and focus mindfulness on the inner feeling of anxiety, and simply watch to see what emerged. Within five minutes, she noticed the image of a dark, menacing black object that seemed to sit in front of her left shoulder. This was her inner image of her panic and anxiety. When she focused on this black object, she noticed brown tendrils that extended outwards to her throat, literally strangling her. I directed her to keep watching the scene and to ask the black object what it needed from her. To her amazement, it answered her with, “I want to be allowed to die.” She continued to be mindful and simply watched the unfolding scene,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and in so doing, gave the black object permission to change, and die. It did this very gracefully, transforming into a pile of white ash that eventually blew away. When she refocused attention on her anxiety and panic, she found that they had greatly diminished to little more than butterflies in the stomach. Interestingly, her fear of flying also subsided and she was able to make that trip to Australia.
This is the active part of mindfulness. However, we don’t stop there, because mindfulness also has a passive and receptive dimension, which allows us to respond, rather than react, to the experiences that we encounter. In that moment of recognition, we can choose to respond by forming a relationship with the emotion. This is the relationship of mindful listening and investigation. The power of simply being 100% present,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not reacting and not even thinking about the emotion that has arisen, is the heart of successful therapy. If you want to change anxiety or depression, you must establish this kind of relationship in which you allow the emotion to exist in the safe space of mindful awareness. Through mindfulness we can maintain this relationship, without becoming caught up in the emotion, or in resisting or fighting the emotion. We learn to just sit with the inner pain as you would sit with a friend in pain. When you have established this kind of mindful-relationship and provide a safe inner space around the emotion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it will respond by changing. The more present you are, the more it will unfold, unwind and transform.
We continued to work on this new sense of inner strength and calm. Interestingly, the imagery changed yet again into the inner image of a large green tree. As he focused mindfully on this inner picture, noticing the leaves and branches,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], his feeling of inner strength and security increased. The feelings were literally encoded in the green leaves that symbolized calmness, and in the solid branches that could support him. When he was asked to imagine visiting a supermarket,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he imagined being there in that crowded and chaotic environment, but now protected by the awareness of his inner tree! He no longer felt the panic and anxiety associated with the unknown.

Imagery is the natural language of the psyche and frequently arises during Mindfulness Therapy. When we observe this natural,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], experiential imagery with mindfulness, the imagery always changes in response to our attention. If we let it change, without the interference or distractions of the thinking mind, it will change in a way that resolves inner emotional suffering. Mindfulness, which is the alive-sensitivity to our present experience, allows us to uncover the experiential imagery at the core of our emotions, providing a very rich medium for inner transformation and healing. In this rich inner environment of experiential imagery, the psyche finds ways to resolve inner suffering and conflict. Our job is to stay mindfulness and allow this natural transformational healing to unfold.
In another session of Mindfulness Meditation Therapy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a young man in his late twenties, wanted to overcome intense anxiety and sadness about an upcoming move, away from his home. He felt a general anxiety about the unknown and unfamiliar and this had intensified to such an extent that he would experience panic attacks in crowded places, such as the supermarket. When he focused mindfully on the felt-sense of this emotion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he noticed a black sphere in the middle of his inner visual field. As he continued to investigate this abstract image, he further noticed that there was a yellow layer on the rim of the black sphere. After further mindful-investigation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he was surprised to notice that a second sphere arose, but this was yellow on the inside and black on the outside. As he continued to focus on the unfolding imagery, yet a third object appeared, which he described as a “pink and fuzzy” cloud. When asked what needed to happen, the pink cloud enveloped the two black and yellow spheres, which eventually lost their rigidity and simply evaporated like a cloud of steam. This led to a tremendous upwelling of feeling of inner strength and calm. When he focused his attention back on the thoughts about the upcoming move, he noticed that the anxiety and sadness had become significantly less intense and he felt better able to meet the challenges that lay ahead.
Mindfulness as taught in Mindfulness Psychotherapy and Mindfulness Meditation Therapy, is a particular awareness skill that teaches us to be aware of what is happening while it is happening. Through diligent practice, we begin to recognize reactions as they arise form moment to moment throughout the day.
